MINUTES FROM THE SEPTEMBER 12, 2011 MEETING

Christmas Party, December 5       Have asked for a couple volunteers to organize the Christmas Party.  No one  has stepped forward.
Nominations for officers:             Pat Stanley and Dar Collins volunteered to find people for office of President and secretary.
Mid-Summer Weave:                   Teacher proposals went out September 7.  Replies are expected by October 30 .
Financial balance:                          $3228.90

Shirley Robinson had gall bladder surgery the weekend right before the September meeting.  She was not feeling too well, and might appreciate cards.

Annual basket retreat of Dreamweavers Basket Guild of Northeast Ohio  is October 7 – 9 at the Joseph Badger Meadows Camp & Conference Center in Burghill, Ohio.   There were still openings as of Iast week.  Contact Venie Hinson at

I heard from Pam Feix.  She is trying to schedule a class with the Kohlers, and wanted to know if any of us were interested in attending.

Teachers: Please bring your kits for sale to our November Guild Meeting.  As we are having an open weave; there may be members who’d like to purchase kit(s) to complete.

The November weave at the Guild meeting will be an open weave
.  Please bring unfinished projects to work on or bring a kit you’ve been wanting to complete.  Don’t have a kit?  Our teachers will have kits for sale.  Start thinking of the weaving gifts you’ve been thinking you’d like to complete for Holiday gifts!

Mid-Summer Weave: 
We are currently soliciting proposals for the July 2012 Mid-Summer Weave.  We are encouraging teachers within our Guild to consider proposing.  If interested, contact Cookie Jenkins for the necessary form.

PASSING OF GLORIA HANELY

Some of you may remember Gloria Hanely who was a former member of Heritage Basket Guild.    Below is a copy of her obituary.

NORMAL IL. — Gloria Barker Hanely, 58, of Normal, formerly of Springfield, Ohio, died 3:47 p.m. Friday (Sept. 23, 2011) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be 6 p.m. Monday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington, where visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Cremation rites will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to CISAR, 29738 E. 1400 North Road, Colfax, IL 61728, a no-kill shelter.
She was born Sept. 12, 1953, in Rogersville, Tenn., a daughter of Charles and Dolores Fletcher Barker. Gloria married John S. Hanely on Sept. 1, 1970, in Normal. He died Sept. 18, 1996.
Surviving are her parents of Normal; her children, Jessica (Michael) Hanely-Poore, Normal; Sara (Jim) Jeffries, Dayton, Ohio; and Jason Hanely, Normal; two grandchildren, Jordan and Ashley Hanely; one sister, Sharon Burmaster (Marty Bell), Normal; two nephews, Brandon Burmaster (Amber Myers) and Brody (Ashley) Burmaster; and her mother-in-law, Betty Hanely of Normal.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Gloria was very artistic, talented and creative. She enjoyed doing needlework, basket making, jewelry making and rug hooking. She was an avid animal lover.
Gloria was a loving mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
