TWININGS FROM SHELLEY

Hello fellow weavers!
What a rainy April we are having. It sure does put a damper on getting a garden started. Good time to stay in and work on our baskets or gourds in my case. Hopefully it will improve before long.

Many of our guild members attended the April Stateline Friends Weaver’s Retreat in Richmond, Indiana. This was my first time attending this event and I was very impressed with the variety of classes and amount of vendors in attendance. There were certainly a lot of talented instructors to coach us through our weaving projects. I will definitely be attending next year.

May will be a busy month. We have a planned field trip to Willowe’s, in Indiana, and our Weave in the Park coming up. Hopefully we have good attendance at both.  I will not be able to make the May meeting as I will be in Tennessee, so please confirm with me if you want to go to Willowe’s prior to the meeting or let Barb know at the meeting if you are attending. Please make arrangements to carpool to make the trip easier.
Happy Weaving ,
Shelley Moore, guild president

Field Trip-
Saturday, May 14th is the HBG field trip to WILOWE”S BASKETRY & YARN HAUS in Greenfield, IN. Participants are to arrive by 10AM. The basket that we will be weaving is the  Shaker Cathead - it will be $40.00 for the class and will take about 4-6 hours to complete.
Please confirm with Barb Schimming, at the May meeting, if you are going.
I need to get a confirmed number of participants to Margaret at Willowe’s by May 5th. To learn more about Willowe’s go to: http://www.willowes.com
The Blanket Basket with the wooden base is $47.00 and will take 6 hours to complete.
Also, we need to arrive at Willowe's at 10 am on May 14th.
I would suggest the Shaker Cathead simply due to time constraints and allowing us time to
shop the store and eat.

Good restaurant choices in Greenfield are:
The Bread Ladies Café features a wide variety of sandwiches, bakery items, and other handmade fare.
Annie’s Restaurant, serving up plates of Hoosier hospitality in their family dining atmosphere,
rises to the top of the list of great, unique local eateries.
The Riley House, like the famous Greenfield-born poet, James Whitcomb Riley, serves up a healthy
selection of down-home Americana.
"May the sun always shine on your windowpane; May a rainbow be certain to follow each rain; May the hand of a friend always be near you; May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you. "

Irish Blessing
