Secretary Notes from February 4th Guild Meeting

Cindy Holland (treasurer)  has obtained an employer I.D. number for our guild.  She is now working on getting a vendor's license for the guild for use at shows and festivals.  Thank you for all your hard workCindy.

There was a MSW meeting for chairpersons on Feb 16th, at 2:00 at the 2nd Street Market.  Look for the MSW brochure early next month.  There is a really nice selection of classes for all weaving levels and tastes.

Susan Keferl has volunteered to teach the "Mini Feather Basket" at the March guild meeting.  Lorry Fought will teach the "Pottery Basket" at the April meeting.  Help! teachers are still needed for the months of May through December.

Sugarplum sent the guild a Thank-you letter for our Christmas Basket tree and invited the guild to participate again in the November Sugarplum.   The basket tree the guild donated  last year  sold for $650!  These proceeds went to the Childrens' Medical Center.  Are we interested in doing this again in Nov. 2008?

Marla Helton's gourd weaving Feb. class was full.  Thanks to those who took her class.

Sue Twombly will be here Aug. 15th and 16th to teach a bracelet class.  She will teach 4 people Friday evening Aug 15th and 8 people on Sat,. Aug 16th.  More information to follow.

Did you Know?......................
Barb S. is making 30 Sadona Sweets Basket with a picture of her church decal for their 20th anniversary. Church members will purchase each basket for $10.  Monies are used to pay for a party hall for the church.

Bonnie K., Margie H. and Kathy S. are going to Winter Weave at the end of this month in Mentor, Ohio.

Kathy S brought a show and tell basket made of willow and called "Baby Shadow."  She purchase the basket from Jo Campbell
Amsler.

Ginger and Marv L. are re-doing their bathroom which had lots of leaks and "yucky" dry wall.  Ginger has had no time to weave and Marv has not had time to make handles and bases.  Call Ginger if you want to order any handles or bases that are made  and she will bring them to the next meeting.

Bernie is busy taking care of Jean, her husband, who is recovering from double knee surgery.  Her dog, Buggar, is busy getting her up several times each night for potty breaks.  We wish them well.

Phyllis E. skipped her volleyball practice to come and join us for weaving.  Good to see you, Phyllis.

Sally M. missed seeing Mikee at guild meeting.  She wants to hear all about Mikee's beading cruise.  So do I, Mikee.

Debbie Martin is going to the Dominican Republic with a medial team and she is going to be an assistant for the dental team.  She plans on enjoying primative life with no toilet facilities.  Debbie can't believe she is willing to do that.  Watch out for snakes, Debbie!

Hannah Collins, daughter of Darlene, is planning to take nursing or political science at Sinclair next year.

Julie K. has 3 patterns published in the winter issue of Just Patterns.   Her home studio and store are now open for business.  Call Julie for directions. 513-932-3975.

Linda Gettler has 2 more quarters to go before she receives her nursing degree.  Good going, Linda.

Lorry F. is still looking for people to help on the MSW food committee.  If you can donate just a couple of hours, she would be most grateful.

Members we missed seeing last month; Georgann Bates, Carolyn Belczyk, Joan Blair, Ann Blake, Melodee Caudill, Pat Chapman, Theresa Cornett, Sharon Dempsey, Carleen Dobie, Karen Douglass, Jennie Dranschak, Bonnie Krist, Pam Feix, Glenna Howland, Jenny Jones, Becky Keener, Elsbeth Kramer, Linda Loxley, Kathy Mari, Dian Meyer, Jean Moorman, Vicky Nicholaci, Susan O'Neal, Cheryl Penny, Elaine Pucket, and Shirley Robinson.  You were missed!

Anita Pennington had cataract surgery in Feb.  She also had her debit card stolen from work and whoever got it, took $2000, so there's a warning there to watch your purse and belongings!

Mikee H. has the following items for sale.    She  plans to be at guild in March, but that depends on her work.  .
- numerous sizes of wooden handles, mostly D handles, a few other styles
- some wire handles
- few wooden bases
- ceramic tie-ons
- 1 set of ceramic handles
- ceramic tie-ons
- large roll of seagrass, unopened
- couple rolls of dyed reed unopened
- some kits
Some of the items have original prices still marked on them.  I don't know how much anything goes for anymore, it's been a year since I've woven anything other than a gourd..........Mikee

WANTED:  A 3 foot table top Christmas tree in good condition for a Mid-Summer Weave raffle.  Do you have one you can donate or that is very inexpensive?   Last year, many of us made mini ornaments to decorate a tree and it received one of the highest number of raffle tickets.  Please call or email one of our MSW chairs, Julie K. or Susan K. if you can help.
