JUNE 7, 2010 WEAVING PROJECT  "HEAVEN & EARTH BASKET" Taught by Barb Schimming

After such dreary days lately, Barb Schimming is offering us up some sunshine in her Heaven and Earth Basket!  Blue skies and bright flowers adorn this basket.  Just what the shrinks ordered for those of us who are affected by this rainy weather!  Barb will be teaching us this basket at our next meeting on June 7.  Lots of you were present at the last meeting and have signed up to take Barb’s class.  But if you weren’t there and want to make this cute and lively basket, (and who wouldn’t!!!) you need to contact Barb ASAP!  See her contact information below.  If you are buying a kit from Barb, please specify the color of flowers you want.  You can pick from red, yellow or pink.

Nadine Spier is a professional basketweaver specializing in coiled basketry.  She  just released a 2-hour instructional DVD on coiled basketweaving called "Basketweaving Essentials with Nadine Spier"  filmed in high definition with superb closeups of all instruction.   This DVD covers how to start a basket around a polished stone, around anything with holes (such as a walnut slice), 3 different stitches, how to shape, different plants you can coil, how to finish, and a lot more! An excerpt from the DVD can be viewed on http://www.parabolee.com/samples/nadine_sample.htm. Nadine’s website is www.nadinespier.com. The DVD sells for $39.99 and is available on Amazon.  Nadine can be contacted at lovetoweave@cox.net or (760) 944-9369.

Dana Wolfe from the Sidney and surrounding area is doing an article on me and my baskets to be put in the second week in June--it's been quite something---They had me do a personal and art based article and will be coming out to take pics. of myself and some of the baskets that I have woven.\
Also ---for the month of July the city of Vandalia has asked if I could do a display of my basketry in the Municipal City Bldg.  There also going to let me do a private showing.  Once a month a new artist from Vandalia is represented... Can you believe that this is happening to me....I sure can't
(Congratulations, Jennie!...Carol)
Jennie Dranschak

I will not be at the June meeting as I will be leaving for Jabez that day.  I wanted everyone to know that I now carry 3/16" flat and flat/oval reed in addition to all the other sizes.  Also, we are closing in on our final deadline for the Mid summer weave.  Unfortunately, we only have 40 people registered thus far.  We have put it out there on every website we can think of but, may have to cancel.  Please remind everyone to spread the word to their friends!
Thanks, Julie Kleinrath

Well I got a job!!!!! so please let all the ladies know on March the 1st. That is my first day and the job is in Cincinnnati so not sure what time I will make it to the meeting if at all.
I am so excited to be employed again! the company is Stevenson the Color Company and they have hired me to be a structural designer for them. They are a lithographer and already do some display work but I will be there to help them do more.
Love you all,    Janet Goldman

Hello,
Just wanted to let you know, my sweet husband of 7 years passed away of cancer in the hospital on May 10th.  He was the love of my life and will be greatly missed.
Susan O'Neal

I have started my job in Greenville, South Carolina. I am happy to have a job and expect to get lots of good experience. I will miss all of you.  My new address is 209 Andrea Circle, Apt. 11, Easley, SC 29642 for now.
