FOR YOUR INFORMATION "An open letter to guild members from Sue Marine" As a new member this was the first Christmas party I have attended with the Heritage Basketweaving Guild. It was delightful! I had so much fun and enjoyed the evening tremendously. It was fun to help set up and do what I could to help because you ladies are fun to be with. The games were a hoot! What clever people belong to this guild! The food was delicious; the menu complete. The evening was full of superlatives. I loved the baskets people made as gifts. What talent and creativity! It was a wonderful way to start the holiday season. I want to thank everyone for participating. (My father is in hospice right now. The guild party provided a total distraction for me, and I greatly appreciated it. Thank you.) --Sue Reminder: Sign up on the refreshments sheet if you haven't done it! Thanks if you have! I adopted 2 kitties Midnight(maine coon) and Oreo(has some maine coon) 7 mos.old! They are lost somewhere in house! --Mary Rhodes Janet Goldman's(former guild member) parents both passed away this Dec. from carbon monoxide poisoning. She found them on Wednesday, expired. Here is what Jean Moorman posted on Facebook: "Rita and John Picciano's funeral was Tuesday, December 13th at St. Vincent Ferrar in Kenwood." If you would like to send Janet Goldman a card her address is 8638 Lytle Ferry Rd Waynesville, Ohio 45068 We have once again been invited to attend the Creative Festival in Sharonville. This has been a good show in the past. So mark your Calendars for June 28-30 2012. This is a free show for us. I will take care of all the paper work. So get busy weaving this winter so we will have lots of baskets to sell. --Darlene Collins Free membership for 2012: Elaine Puckett was winner at Dec meeting drawing. Darlene's daugher Hannah drew winning the membership card. Thanks everyone. I really enjoyed meeting and getting to know everyone as membership chair and I sure have learned a lot about basket weaving the past nearly 10 years. --Sally Meyer
A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL AT THE DEC. 2011 CHRISTMAS PARTY!
Linda Seever was the official greeter at the party. She handed out tickets, one ticket if you brought non-perishable food items for the Church food pantry, and another ticket if you brought a basket related gift for the exchange.
Here is a sample of some of the non-perishable food items donated by guild members. Thanks to all those who participated for their generosity.
Exchange gifts were wrapped in brown paper bags and placed under the tree.
We sat at tables decorated by Glenna Howland and her sister Dian Meyer. They are posing with two of their center pieces which were later given away as prizes. Thanks for all the great work, ladies. Hope everyonel had a chance to see Glenna's Santa hat in "action."
Let the buffet line begin! Pictured are Bernie Jines, Beth Scherer, Cindy Holland, and Sue Marine. On the other side of the table is Cookie Jenkins.
What's dinner without dessert? And there were a lot of sweets to choose from, or you could choose all of them.
After dinner, we were provided with entertainment by Candy Godfrey. No these ladies are not practicing for a modeling career, they are drawing a Christmas scene with a fireplace, stockings, tree, and presents. All if this is done with the paper on top of their head!
Well, here are some more people with their thinking caps on.
Notice Candy Godfrey standing in the middle of the tables. She is the only sane looking one in the picture. This was her idea!
Here is another picture of happy members trying to do their best artwork.
And here are the proud winners of the art contest, Sue O'Neal, Val Manemann, and Beth Scherer. These talented ladies each received a table centerpiece. Aren't those pictures _______?
Another challenging game was wrapping a box in Christmas paper while wearing oven mitts! Here are Darlene Collins and Caroline White putting on the finishing touches. Thanks to Ginger L. for taking this picture, I will get even, later!
Shirley Robinson and Eda Rose Wolf are enjoying the festivities.
It is said, "A picture is worth a 1,000 words." This picture of Cheri Mullins says it all about the good time we had.
There were some mighty fine looking basket gifts at the exchange this year. Here we are holding our presents. Some of these baskets/gifts will be taught at guild meetings in the coming year. Thanks to all those members who prepared food, decorations, and games to make such a successful ending to 2011. I would like to list the names these people, but I'm afraid I would leave someone off the list. So let me just say a heartfelt thanks to all of you.
