Twinings from the Prez

Well, the cold weather is here. I hope every one is staying warm. Just a reminder that we are in need of teachers.  I hope that some of you will step out and see that teaching is not so bad. If you have a basket that you would like to have taught please let me know. Stay warm and I will see you in March.

Happy Weaving,

Darlene Collins

Notes from the January 7, 2008 meeting
The Mid-Summer Weave committee members met Saturday, Jan 12th  10:00am at “Panera Bread” near the Fairfield Mall.   Volunteers to work on the food committee are still needed.  Lorry F., the food chairperson, would like to schedule her volunteers to work part-time in the kitchen and  still be able to take a 4 to 6 hour weaving class at MSW.  This is a great idea as long as there are enough people on the food committee to make this happen.  Call Lorry if you can help, even for a few hours.

We need about 8 more people to teach or sponsor a basket for our monthly meeting projects.  I heard there were some beautiful baskets at the Christmas party that people would love to weave and Julie K. took pictures and asked if you would like to teach this basket.  It doesn’t have to be your own basket pattern to be able to teach as long as the original pattern is purchased from the owner.  Won’t you reconsider?

Marla Helton’s class for Feb 22 &23 has only 2 people signed up from our guild.  This opportunity will be opened up to other guilds and basket weavers Jan. 20, 2008.  Call Julie to reserve your space, now.

Sue Twombly will be teaching Aug 15th and 16th at Julie K. house.  She taught at those beautiful bracelets last year at MSW 2007.  Mark your calendars now.  More information will be coming.

Membership  dues. Karen D.  will get a new membership list out next month, so if dues are not paid by that time, your names will not appear on the 2008 roster.

We have the dates for the Weave in the Park series set for May 24 8Am- whenever and Barb Schimming will teach her antique flower basket she designed. Our second event will be Sept. 27, same time and we're looking for a basket everyone would like to weave. Generally we look for one with a bit more challenge that everyone wants to weave, but doesn't try on their own. If you have any ideas, please let me know so I can research the pattern and contact the originator to ask permission to weave it and purchase the patterns from her.   Contact person is Karen D.

Refreshments for the Feb. meeting will be provided by Julie K. and Lorry F.s from the January Meeting

Carol White..acting secretary.
