Basket taught by Lorry Foucht

REFRESHMENTS PROVIDED BY:
Darlene Collins & Barb Schimming
MINUTES FROM THE JULY 12, 2010 MEETING

Secretary Report: Minutes from last meeting approved

Treasurer Report:
Cindy stated that she has contacted IRS regarding our 501c3 application.  They reportedly are backed up and have not processed our request. Therefore, we may have a silent auction at midsummer weave instead of a raffle.
Each item or batch of items for sale will have a minimum bid.

Membership Report: No new members since last month.

Midsummer Weave Report:
Julie indicated that 5 teachers will be coming to the event; approx 45 students are signed up.  Volunteers are needed to help with food; members coming to the event are asked to bring a snack or dessert to midsummer weave for the "snack sharing table."

Teacher Liaison Report:
Next month's guild meeting project will be Lorry's Little Lovely.  Cost is $12.  Sign up if interested-email will be sent to membership for sign up as well.

Sept 14 is the Billy Owens white oak basket class at Julie Kleinrath's house.  9 people are signed up at this time.  Cost is $65 and must be paid in full by Aug 2, our next guild meeting.  Contact Julie if you are interested.

Sept. 11 is another Weave in the Park. Margaret Harness from Willowes Basketry will be teaching 3 different baskets.  Contact Ginger if you are interested. Email will be sent showing the 3 baskets that will be taught.
(Note: Contact Carol White if you are interested.)
Last month's Weave in the Park was well attended and lots of fun....this one should be as well!!!

President's Report:
Darlene reported that 3 guild members went to the Creative Festival in Sharonville; lots of people asked about the guild. This event was seen as good exposure for the guild.

Royalwood Basket Guild Day is Sept. 18.  It starts at 10 or 10:30 am.  This is in Mansfield-we can go as a group. Let Darlene know if you are interested .

Jennie Dranschak is a featured artist in Vandalia this month.  Stop in at the City Government Center in Vandalia to see examples of her wonderful basketry and caning work.

The new "Just Patterns" book is now in our library-be sure to "check it out" as Julie Kleinrath is in it!

I'm sure you remember Joan Blair she hasn't been a member of the guild for a while. JENNIE DRANSCHAK, Vandalia Artist of the Month!

Jennie is standing beside one of her several  basket
displays in the Vandalia Municipal Building.

She is the featured artist for the month of July and over
100 people attended her reception on July 12th.  Many
people ordered some of her baskets, so she'll be busy
weaving for a while.

Congratulations, Jennie!
