Next Meeting: Monday January 8, 2007 6:30 PM
Refreshments: Not known
Happy New Year Heritage members! Forgive my tardiness for not getting this out sooner, my party hat has been sitting with a jaunty twist this year and certainly has gotten in the way of business!

Our meeting, as you see, is Monday Jan. 8th so hope none of you were waiting to get in at the door on the 1st!

I hear that the Christmas/Holiday party was another rousing success with much reveling going on by the masses. Always a highlight of the year, it looks like everyone had a wonderful time, including Bernie, who got her basket stolen a lot in the "mean game".

Bonnie took the pictures which I'll include in this newsletter showing the fun and frivolity that everyone enjoyed.
Always an important part of the festivities, "Let the Feasting Begin!!!!!!!!!!"
Bernie presenting our outgoing President, Carol White, with what looks like floppy slippers to keep her feet warm while weaving
Jane Pope (l) with our hostesses for the evening, Dian Meyer and Glenna Howland
Lifetime friendships are made and continue at Heritage. Jennie Dranschak, Peg West and Bernie  Jines carry on the tradition here.
We don't get to see everyone as often as we'd like as these ladies come up from Cincinnati to join our fun. Pat Chapman, Margie Hayes and Kathy Spitler admire a basket and contents.
I think the players are saying "Ahhhh" here, perhaps Bernie got her basket stolen again! Susie Wright, Mikee Huber, Cindy Holland, Carleen Dobey,Cheryl Penny, Susan O'Neal (leaning over), Sharon Dempsey and Jennie Dranschak.
Let the game begin! Bernie chooses her bag with basket for the beginning of what we call the "mean game". Jeannie Roeck, Darlene Collins, Pat Chapman and Margie Hayes are waiting their turns to steal a basket!
A group shot of one of the things we enjoy BEST, eating!!!! I see faces we've not seen in a while here and want to encourage you all to get involved in 2007. We miss seeing you when you're not present and your group needs you more than once a year! We've got loads of interesting projects lined up for the coming year including a Special Saturday Weave in January! Time's a wastin' get involved! Make that your New Years Resolution!!!!!!!!!!
More swaps taking place with Theresa Cornett, Kathy Mari, Jane Pope, Georganne Bates and Jean Moorman enjoying the partying.
Are those tears of joy that Linda Gettler is feeling? Julie Kleinrath, Linda Gettler, Linda Loxley, Carol White, Mikee Huber and Cindy Holland looking to see what wonderful basket Linda has just opened
whadjaget?whadjaget? Sisters Glenna Howland and Dian Meyer check out Dian's basket she MAY have ended up with in the swap!
And this one HAS to give new meaning to the term "Old Bag". That's got to be Rhonda Woods under that bag and Mel Caudill with her wonderful laugh sitting next to her! We've missed your faces........guess we're still missing Rhonda's!
                   Special Saturday Weave
                  Saturday January 20, 2007
                        Pam Feix, Instructor
Jim Rutherford's Small Burma Border Tote

Time to get back to weavin' ladies! This basket is woven with bleached binder cane and topped off with 1/2" leather tote handles. The class will create the basket on a mold using doubled spokes, doing start/stop weaving, cheese weaving, creating the 4 "Thai" feet and doing the Burmese lashing on the rim. Liners are not included, but some will be available for an additional cost of $16. This basket is a challenge, yet fun to make.

The basket is 9 1/2" longx 7 1/4" wide x 8 1/2" tall without handles. The class may take 6 hours for some, 8 for others.

The cost is $50, we'll weave from 9-5 at the Enon United Methodist Church, 85 Broadway, Enon, Ohio. Bring a brown bag lunch.

Please respond ASAP to Bonnie as molds are needed for this project!

Sharon Dempsey has been contacted by Joanna Schanz with this information:

www.broomandbasket.com.
Instructors will be Joanne E. Schanz and Jo Campbell Amsler. No more than 5 students per teacher, classes are tailored to each student's level of skill.

April 27-29, 2007, Festival of American Basketry . This will offer 6 different classes for all skill levels with Jackie Abrams, Jackie Bedworth and Donna Kallner instructing. Use the same website for that information.
And one last bit of information from Carol White: Donna Mollaun, from the Daughters of the American Revolution, is looking for some type of colonial, early German-American reenactment folks to demo basketry of that period. The event will happen on May 11-13th which includes Mother's Day weekend. This appears to be just a demonstration opportunity, however I know there are several of you who do this sort of thing, perhaps another era. For more information or if you are interested contact Donna Mollaun at tmollaun@aol.com.
And so, dear friends, as we begin a New Year, my wishes for you all are health and happiness and a lot of fresh reed in your stashes! Good weaving to you all and I'll see you sometime this year!  Karen
